Gu Zhen Ren is best known for being the author of novel Reverend Insanity.
Gu Zhen Ren (蛊真人) is translated literally to 蛊(Gu)=Poison/Insanity (蛊 also refers to poisonous insects having some special properties. This idea was perpetuated by martial arts novels and the novel is based on a more fantasy version of the same insects)
真(Zhen)=Real/True
人(Ren)=Person/Human Being
真人(Zhen Ren) literally means Person who is clear about himself and is used as a Taoist title. The title ZhenRen is also translated to Arhat in Buddhism so the meaning of Zhenren is also a person who is near Buddhahood . Zhen Ren are regarded in the Taoist scriptures as figures higher than immortals but lower than Tian Zun like the Three Pure Ones.
