Plot

In a dystopia future, there is a magical disease. When you have it, you get very tired and when you sleep you get transported into a nightmarish fantasy world (clearly inspired by dark soul). If you die in this world, you a replaced by a nightmare creature that wreak havoc in the real world but if you succeed then you gain superpowers. You also get a weakness, a magical handicap that can get more or less debilitating.

The hero is a street rat that is only interested in surviving by all means necessary because that’s all he has ever known. He gets interesting powers and weakness and become very OP, but not as OP as another character. One thing interesting is that in some ways, the protagonist is kind of only the side character of this story…

Summary

This Shadow Slave is about a guy named Sunny who lives in a dystopian future where some people are forced to periodically visit a magical world and battle terrible monsters. If they survive, they receive special powers.

Growing up in poverty, Sunny never expected anything good from life. However, even he did not anticipate being chosen by the Nightmare Spell and becoming one of the Awakened – an elite group of people gifted with supernatural powers.

Sunny is a cynical, disillusioned young man with a bleak outlook on life. But he has a sense of humor and a strong desire to not only survive but also thrive in this world.

Transported into a ruined magical world, he found himself facing against terrible monsters – and other Awakened – in a deadly battle of survival.

What’s worse, the shadow powers he received happened to possess a small, but potentially fatal side effect…
